CEO Succession: The Chief HR Officer's Role
Patrick M. Wright, Thomas C. Vandiver Bicentennial Chair, Professor, Director, Center of Executive Succession, Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina
In response to a number of high-profile CEO failures boards have increasingly focused on one of their most important governance roles, that of choosing a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This heightened attention has simultaneously resulted in a growing recognition of the need to engage Chief Human Resource Officers (CHROs) in the process. Professor Patrick Wright will present the results of research conducted by the Center for Executive Succession at University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business regarding the role of the CHRO, particularly focused on what boards want from those in that role.
